The main objective of this project is to design a plant for production of 1 metric ton per hour of decaffeinated coffee which can be built in the United Arab Emirates. The suitable technology for decaffeination plant should be chosen based on economical and environmental aspects in UAE then to design the process plant .The design should involves material and energy balances of the process and details design of equipment using manual calculations and software simulation packages.  The deliverable of this project is to design a production plant of decaffeinated coffee using the most suitable technology. In addition, the design specification and the specific condition of decaffeination plant was determined. The comparison between manual calculation and software packages was analyzed to confirm the manual results. Moreover, the equipment was sizing used the suitable method. The capital cost of the plant was estimated and by sizing equipment's in the decaffeination process and selecting the suitable material of construction. The HAZOP study was studied for main equipment's and the environmental issues discussed.
